Senior Housing Crisis in Florida

Recently, WESH 2 News visited New Smyrna Beach Housing Authority (NSBHA) to interview Executive Director, Teresa Pope, and resident of Greenlawn Manor, Sue Bennett.

The article and video posted by WESH 2 News tells of how seniors in Florida are at risk of homelessness due to rising rent costs. Most seniors are on a fixed income such as Social Security and are unable to keep up with rising costs of living.

NSBHA built Greenlawn Manor Senior Living a little over a year ago. These apartments house 80 low-income seniors who were at risk of homelessness not too long ago.
